ANCHISE Toolkit

Illicit trafficking of cultural goods requires responses at every stage — from the first signs of looting to the investigation of criminal networks. The ANCHISE project developed 6 complementary technological tools designed to cover this full operational chain, supporting archaeologists, cultural heritage professionals, customs officers and law enforcement agencies in their daily work.

The project took a user-centred approach. Each tool was tested in real-world conditions (at archaeological sites, museums, airports and border control points) and refined continuously based on practitioner feedback. The ANCHISE toolkit is a coherent ecosystem where tools reinforce one another: data generated at one stage feeds into the next, creating a connected framework for heritage protection.

Across prevention, interception and detection, the ANCHISE toolkit demonstrates what targeted, field-tested technology can achieve when developed in close partnership with the people who need it most.
