ANCHISE Final Forum - Protecting Heritage Together
Titled "Protecting Heritage Together: Innovative Solutions against Trafficking of Cultural Goods," the ANCHISE Final Forum took place on 14–16 January 2026 in Athens and online, hosted by the École Française d'Athènes at the Archaeological Society of Athens.
As the culminating event of the ANCHISE project, it marked the convergence of the project's scientific, political, and technological ambitions. ANCHISE The three-day programme was structured around six dedicated roundtables covering research, technological innovation, data engineering, policy, training, and community engagement.
Key outputs included updated policy recommendations building on earlier Brussels forum discussions, incorporating three years of project learning, alongside presentations of ANCHISE's cutting-edge tools for site monitoring, collection protection, and object identification.

ANCHISE Forum - Advancing the fight against trafficking of cultural goods
On the 3rd April 2024, policy makers, heritage professionals, researchers, experts, and innovators gathered at the Palais des Académies in Brussels and online, for the ANCHISE Forum: a pivotal event focused on advancing the fight against the illicit trafficking of cultural goods.
With more than 80 in-person participants and 60 users connected online, the Anchise Forum saw important professionals from different fields come across the stage. Researchers, law enforcement agency professionals, heritage professionals and technological experts took turns painting a complete picture of what Anchise is and what our main achievements are as a project, while also discussing the next steps for combating illicit trafficking.

International Symposium in Poitiers, France
The ANCHISE International Symposium, titled "The Economic and Social Context of Illicit Trafficking in Archaeological Artefacts," took place on 8–9 November 2023 at the University of Poitiers. ANCHISE Co-organised by the HERMA laboratory of the University of Poitiers and the European University Institute of Florence, the event brought together international researchers and practitioners working against illicit trafficking in archaeology.
Its core objective was to exchange knowledge about the economic and social conditions enabling the illicit trade of cultural heritage — particularly archaeological goods — from source countries to market countries, with a focus on the Euro-Mediterranean region.
Some 230 people registered, reflecting growing international interest in the fight against cultural heritage looting. Michael-culture As a key output, the publication "Artefacts, Roots, Networks: Endangered Archaeology and Trafficking of Archaeological Objects" documented the symposium's findings through thematic analyses and summaries of contributions from researchers and practitioners.
